(03) — Questions & answers

Best transit in Bangkok — FAQ.

Which Bangkok areas are on the BTS or MRT?

The Sukhumvit corridor (Asoke, Phrom Phong, Thonglor, Ekkamai), Silom/Sathorn and the Ratchada/Rama 9 line are all rail-served. The ranking below orders districts by BAANLYY's transit rating.

Can I live in Bangkok without a car?

Absolutely — many expats do. Living within a few minutes' walk of a BTS or MRT station, combined with Grab and motorbike taxis, makes a car unnecessary in the central districts at the top of this list.

How much does the BTS/MRT cost?

Single fares are inexpensive, with stored-value cards and monthly passes available. The real saving is time: rail bypasses the traffic that makes road journeys unpredictable across the city.
