One of the quiet luxuries of living in Bangkok is how good delivery is. A full street-food meal, a supermarket shop, a late-night snack or a forgotten grocery item can be at your condo door within the hour, for a delivery fee of pocket change. The apps are in English, payment is card, wallet or PromptPay, and the range - from 30-baht noodles to a weekly imported grocery haul - is enormous. This guide covers the main food-delivery apps, grocery and supermarket delivery, what it costs, how you pay, and the practical tips that make ordering to a Bangkok condo effortless.

The main food delivery apps

GrabFoodMost popular

Grab is the default super-app for most expats and the delivery service with the deepest restaurant coverage across central Bangkok. The English interface is excellent, it links to the same account you use for Grab rides, and you can pay by card, GrabPay wallet, PromptPay or cash. Live rider tracking, in-app chat and easy re-orders make it the safest first install.

LINE MANWidest reach

Built on LINE - the messaging app almost everyone in Thailand already uses - LINE MAN has huge coverage including small street-food shops that are not on other platforms, plus its Wongnai restaurant reviews built in. The app works in English, handles food, groceries, messengers and parcels, and accepts card, Rabbit LINE Pay, TrueMoney and cash.

foodpanda -- discontinued nationwideNo longer operating (since May 2025)

Delivery Hero officially ceased all foodpanda operations across Thailand on 23 May 2025 after 13 years in the market, citing intense competition and accumulated losses. It is not available in Bangkok or anywhere else in the country -- Grab and LINE MAN are the two apps to rely on today, with ShopeeFood as a smaller, mostly bigger-city third option.

ShopeeFood, Robinhood & restaurant-directAlternatives

Beyond the big three, ShopeeFood ties delivery to the Shopee shopping app and its ShopeePay wallet, and Robinhood is a Thai low-commission app popular for supporting local restaurants. Smaller apps come and go, so keep one of GrabFood or LINE MAN as your main. Many restaurants also take direct orders over LINE or phone for pickup or their own delivery.

Grocery & supermarket delivery

Supermarket apps: Tops, Villa & GourmetGroceries

The main Western-friendly supermarkets deliver through their own apps and websites: Tops (Tops Online) is the most widely used, with Villa Market and Gourmet Market/Home Fresh Mart covering imported and premium products. Order a full weekly shop with fresh produce, chilled and frozen goods to your condo, usually in scheduled delivery windows.

Hypermarkets: Lotus's, Big C & MakroBig shops

For bulk and value, Lotus's (the Lotus's SMART app), Big C and Makro all deliver. These are best for household staples, drinks, cleaning products and large orders where the per-item price matters more than speed. Makro leans wholesale and is handy for stocking a new condo kitchen from scratch.

Quick grocery & convenienceOn-demand

For a fast top-up rather than a weekly shop, the food apps double as grocery couriers: GrabMart, and LINE MAN Mart deliver from mini-marts, convenience stores and dark stores in 20-40 minutes. 7-Eleven's own 7Delivery and All Online cover 24-hour convenience items across almost every neighbourhood.

Fresh, halal, health & importedSpecialist

Bangkok's delivery ecosystem reaches well beyond the mainstream: butchers, seafood suppliers, bakeries, health-food and organic shops, halal kitchens, and specialist Japanese, Korean, Indian and Western grocers all list on GrabMart or LINE MAN or take direct LINE orders. If you want a specific ingredient from home, it can usually be delivered.

Fees, payment & practical tips

Fees & delivery timesCost

Delivery fees are low by Western standards - typically 10-40 baht for a restaurant a few kilometres away, rising with distance and during rain or peak meal times when surge pricing kicks in. Most food orders arrive in 20-45 minutes. Apps constantly run free-delivery deals, minimum-spend offers and subscriptions (GrabUnlimited, pandapro) that pay off if you order often.

Signing up & English supportSetup

All the major apps have full English interfaces. You sign up with a Thai mobile number (get a local SIM first) and, for card payments, add a Visa/Mastercard - though many foreign cards work, a Thai bank card or wallet is smoothest. LINE MAN requires the LINE app; Grab is standalone. Ratings, photos and menus are largely in English in central areas.

Payment methodsPaying

You can pay by credit/debit card, cash on delivery, or - increasingly the local norm - PromptPay QR and the in-app wallets (GrabPay, Rabbit LINE Pay, TrueMoney, ShopeePay). Linking PromptPay or a wallet avoids carrying cash and makes tipping and re-orders one tap. Cash on delivery is still accepted almost everywhere if you prefer it.

Tips for ordering to a condoExpat tips

Save your condo with the exact building name, tower and unit, and add a note about lobby drop-off, guard-desk collection or meeting the rider at the gate - many buildings will not let riders up. Pin your GPS location precisely, as tower addresses confuse maps. Tipping is optional but appreciated; a small tip in-app helps in the rain. Order before the 12pm and 6pm rushes to beat the surge.

FAQ

Bangkok food delivery FAQ

What is the best food delivery app in Bangkok for expats?

GrabFood is the usual first choice: the widest restaurant coverage in central Bangkok, an excellent English interface, live tracking, and the same account as Grab rides with card, wallet, PromptPay or cash. LINE MAN is the strongest partner or backup because it reaches small street-food shops the others miss.

How much does food delivery cost in Bangkok?

Delivery fees are typically 10-40 baht for a restaurant a few kilometres away, increasing with distance and during rain or peak meal times when surge pricing applies. The food itself costs the same as (or only slightly more than) eating in. Free-delivery promotions and subscriptions like GrabUnlimited or pandapro are common and worthwhile if you order regularly.

Can I get groceries delivered in Bangkok?

Yes. Supermarkets deliver through their own apps - Tops Online, Villa Market, Gourmet Market, Lotus's, Big C and Makro - for a full weekly shop in scheduled windows. For fast top-ups, GrabMart, and LINE MAN Mart deliver from mini-marts and dark stores in 20-40 minutes, and 7-Eleven runs its own 24-hour delivery.

How do I pay for delivery, and can I use PromptPay?

You can pay by credit or debit card, cash on delivery, PromptPay QR, or in-app wallets such as GrabPay, Rabbit LINE Pay, TrueMoney and ShopeePay. Linking PromptPay or a wallet is the local norm and avoids handling cash, though cash on delivery is still accepted almost everywhere if you prefer it.

Will delivery riders come up to my condo unit?

Often not - many Bangkok buildings require riders to leave orders at the lobby or guard desk, so save your address with the building name, tower and unit and add a delivery note, and pin your GPS location precisely since tower addresses confuse maps. If in doubt, meet the rider in the lobby or at the gate. A small in-app tip is appreciated, especially in the rain.
