Public University Campus · founded 2002 · Sai Yok
Mahidol University's Kanchanaburi Campus began with a 1995 Cabinet-approved establishment project and a 1998 foundation-stone ceremony under royal permission, before opening its first undergraduate programs under the College of Management in 2001 and adding Faculty of Science programs in 2002 -- the year the campus is generally described as having expanded into Kanchanaburi. It was formally rebranded as "Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus" in 2009. The campus sits in Moo 9, Lum Sum Subdistrict, Sai Yok District, roughly 50km from Mueang Kanchanaburi, on a site spanning about 10 square kilometres adjacent to Highway 323 (Kanchanaburi-Thong Pha Phum).
As a satellite campus of Bangkok-based Mahidol University -- one of Thailand's top-ranked research universities -- it offers 7 undergraduate programs (Accounting, Business Administration, Agricultural Science, Conservation Biology, Food Technology, Geoscience and Environmental Engineering, and Disaster Management) plus a Master of Science in Food Resources and Ecosystem Sustainability, positioning it around rural, agricultural and environmental fields rather than the medical and engineering strengths of Mahidol's main Bangkok campuses.
