Rajamangala University of Technology Isan traces its roots to 1984 as part of the Institute of Technology and Vocational Education network. In 1988, King Bhumibol Adulyadej granted the name Rajamangala Institute of Technology, and in 2005 the institute was elevated to full university status as Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI) -- a technical and vocational-rooted university system with five campuses across the Isaan region: the main Nakhon Ratchasima campus plus Khon Kaen, Surin, Sakon Nakhon and Roi Et.
The Khon Kaen Campus sits on Si Chan Road in Nai Mueang sub-district, central Khon Kaen (150 Si Chan Road, Nai Mueang, Mueang Khon Kaen 40000). It comprises three faculties -- Engineering, Technical Education, and Business Administration & Information Technology -- offering a technical and applied-skills alternative to Khon Kaen University for students from Khon Kaen and the wider region.
