Overview

Koh Samui Amphoe at a glance

The Ko Samui District Office (Amphoe), on Taweerat Pakdee Road in Na Thon, is the local seat of Thailand's district-level government administration, headed by the District Chief (Nai Amphoe). It is a separate department from both the Immigration Office in Maenam and Koh Samui City Municipality, despite all three being loosely called "government offices" by residents.

For most day-to-day expat business on the island -- visa matters, property transfers, utility connections -- the relevant office is Immigration, the Land Office or a utility provider directly rather than the Amphoe. The District Office becomes relevant mainly for civil registration matters, most notably marriage registration for a foreigner marrying a Thai national, a required step before applying for a Non-Immigrant O (marriage) visa or extension at Immigration.

Address: Taweerat Pakdee Road, Ang Thong Sub-district, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani 84140
Hours: Standard Thai government-office hours apply -- typically Monday-Friday, roughly 8:30 AM-4:30 PM with a midday break -- but we could not independently confirm this office's exact current public hours from an official source, so call ahead or confirm with a local fixer or lawyer before an important visit.
Phone: Tel +66 (0)77 420 372 / +66 (0)77 420 373
Getting there: In Na Thon, the island's main town and ferry port on the west coast -- reachable by car, motorbike, songthaew or Grab from anywhere on the ring road.
