Overview

Koh Tao Police at a glance

Koh Tao Police Station (สถานีตำรวจภูธรเกาะเต่า) is the island's main police station, on the Chalok Baan Kao-Ao Leuk road in the south of the island. It serves both Thai residents and the island's large foreign dive-tourism and expat population, and is the practical in-person point for reporting theft, road accidents, diving-related incidents or other disputes.

As on many of Thailand's smaller islands, walk-in English proficiency at the local station can vary by shift, and the dedicated Koh Tao Tourist Police unit (see separate entry) is often the faster route to English-language help for visitors and expats specifically.

Address: Chalok Baan Kao-Ao Leuk road, Chalok Baan Kao, Koh Tao, Ko Pha-ngan District, Surat Thani 84280
Hours: Open 24 hours for emergencies and walk-in reports; routine administrative hours were not independently confirmed from an official source, so call ahead for non-urgent business.
Phone: Reported as +66 (0)77 456 631 by a long-running local island guide and as +66 (0)77 456 098 by a separate directory -- the two independently found sources disagree on the exact line, so confirm the current number by calling the national police hotline 191 or the Tourist Police 1155 before relying on either.
Getting there: On the road connecting Chalok Baan Kao to Ao Leuk on the island's south side, a short taxi, songthaew or motorbike ride from Mae Haad pier or Sairee Beach.
