Public University (Rajabhat system) · founded 1971 · Mueang Lampang
Lampang Rajabhat University traces back to Lampang Teachers College, founded on 9 June 1971 at 119 Lampang-Mae Ta Road, Ban Hua Gnork, Chomphu Subdistrict, Mueang District. It began training certificate-level teachers, gained authority to award full education degrees under the Teachers College Act of 1975, and expanded into liberal arts and science degrees under the 1984 Act.
On 14 February 1992 it was renamed Lampang Rajabhat Institute under the Rajabhat Institute Act, and on 14 June 2004 the Rajabhat Universities Act promoted it to Lampang Rajabhat University, placing it under the Office of the Higher Education Commission within Thailand's Ministry of Education -- one of 38 Rajabhat universities nationwide, each with a mandate to serve its home province's teacher-training and regional-development needs.
