Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) was founded in 2015 by PTT Public Company Limited -- Thailand's largest corporation -- together with PTT group subsidiaries (GC, PTTEP, ThaiOil, IRPC, GPSC, OR) and co-founders Kasikornbank and SCB Bank, per VISTEC's own official site. It sits in Wangchan Valley, part of the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), in Wang Chan district, Rayong.
VISTEC is a postgraduate-only research university, offering only Ph.D. and Master's degrees across four schools -- Molecular Science and Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, Biomolecular Science and Engineering, and Information Science and Technology. It is designed to be autonomous and academically independent, and its research output is described on its own site as ranked 1st in Thailand for natural and chemical science.
