The main public hospital in Songkhla town, a 508-bed facility with roots dating back a century.
Songkhla Hospital is the main public hospital serving Songkhla town, a 508-bed general hospital under Thailand's Ministry of Public Health on an 80-rai campus at 666 Moo 2, Songkhla–Ranod Road, Phawong Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District.
It was established 26 June 1925 as Songkhla Phayaban under the patronage of Prince Mahidol of Songkhla, transferred to Songkhla City Municipality in 1935 and to the Ministry of Public Health's Department of Medical Services in 1952. The hospital relocated to its current Phawong campus between 1993 and 1995, after acquiring the 80-rai site in 1985.
It also runs a CPIRD medical-education centre training doctors for Prince of Naradhiwas University's Faculty of Medicine, and is an affiliated teaching site of Prince of Songkla University's Faculty of Medicine -- but for day-to-day and emergency public care, it is the default option in Songkhla town, with longer waits and less English support than the private hospitals concentrated roughly 30km away in Hat Yai.
