Public university · founded 1923 · Mak Khaeng Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani
Udon Thani Rajabhat University traces its roots to 1923, when it opened as the Teacher Training School in Agriculture Udon Thani -- one of the oldest teacher-training institutions in the Isaan region. It was renamed the Teacher Training School in 1930, became Udon Thani Teachers' Training School in 1958, and was upgraded to Udon Thani Teachers' College in 1960. The 1975 Teachers' College Act allowed it to begin offering bachelor's degrees, and in 1992 King Bhumibol Adulyadej granted the college and its sister institutions nationwide the name "Rajabhat Institute." Following the Rajabhat University Act of 2003, Udon Thani Rajabhat Institute formally became Udon Thani Rajabhat University on 15 June 2004.
The main campus sits at 64 Thahan Road, Mak Khaeng Subdistrict, in Mueang Udon Thani District, with two additional satellite campuses -- Sam Phrao Campus, roughly 15km from the original site, and a Bueng Kan Campus serving neighbouring Bueng Kan Province. UDRU enrols over 22,000 students across faculties of Education, Humanities and Social Science, Science, Management Science, Technology, and Nursing, making it one of the largest public universities serving the Udon Thani region.
