Overview

Mai Khao is the island's northernmost and longest beach, an eleven-kilometre sweep of casuarina-backed sand protected as part of Sirinat National Park. It is the antithesis of Patong: undeveloped, serene and low-density, home to a string of five-star resorts (Anantara, JW Marriott, SALA, Renaissance) and their branded residences rather than bars and malls. Green sea turtles still nest here in the cool season.

For renters and buyers it appeals to those who want privacy, space and proximity to the airport above nightlife and walkability. Everything beyond the resorts requires a drive — the nearest big shopping is in Thalang or Cherng Talay — so Mai Khao rewards remote workers, semi-retirees and second-home owners who value calm and are comfortable being car-dependent.
