01What this is & why you'd need it
Coworking spaces and serviced offices provide hot desks, dedicated desks, private offices and meeting rooms on flexible terms, usually with fast internet, printing and coffee included. Digital nomads, DTV holders, remote employees and small companies use them for reliable connectivity, a professional address and a community — without a long commercial lease.
02What to look for
- Real internet speed and reliability (the whole point) — test it on a day pass
- Membership flexibility: day pass, monthly hot desk, dedicated desk, private office
- Hours — 24/7 access if you work across time zones
- Location near home or transit, and the quality of meeting rooms if you need them
03Questions to ask before you commit
Q. What's the actual internet speed, and is there a backup connection?
Q. Can I start on a day pass or short trial before committing monthly?
Q. Are there quiet zones and call booths, or is it one open room?
Q. Is 24/7 access included, and what are meeting-room costs?
04Red flags
Walk away if you see…
- Internet that lags during a trial — it won't improve once you've paid
- Long lock-in contracts dressed up as 'membership'
- Cramped, noisy rooms with no call space
05What it typically costs
Priced from cheap day passes up through monthly hot-desk and dedicated-desk tiers to private offices; longer commitments lower the per-day rate. Serviced offices with a registered business address cost more. Many nomads mix cafés with a part-time coworking membership.
06Frequently asked
Best for digital nomads and DTV holders?A flexible monthly hot-desk membership is the usual sweet spot — reliable internet and community without a lease. Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket all have strong scenes. Try a day pass first to test the connection and vibe.
Can I register a company at a coworking space? Some serviced offices offer a registered business address and mail handling; basic coworking memberships usually don't. If you need a legal business address, ask specifically for that service.
Coworking or just cafés?Cafés are fine occasionally but vary in Wi-Fi, power and seating etiquette. For full work days, calls and deadlines, a coworking membership is more reliable. Many people combine both.
