How Phuket's zones compare

Phuket divides into four broad zones, and the scores reflect it. The central west coast (Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala) trades quiet for walkable beaches, dining and nightlife. The premium northwest (Surin, Bang Tao, Cherng Talay, and Mai Khao and Nai Yang near the airport) leads on family life, international schools and branded-residence investment. The south (Rawai, Nai Harn, Chalong, Cape Panwa) is the long-stay heartland — the island's best value and its deepest expat scene. Phuket Town and Koh Kaew swap beaches for real-city convenience, marinas and the island's lowest living costs. Use the factor columns above to see those trade-offs area by area.

FAQ

Frequently asked

What is the BAANLYY Phuket Area Score? The BAANLYY Area Score is a transparent 0–100 rating for each Phuket area. It's the average of eight island lived-experience factors — beach, dining, nightlife, family-friendliness, value, quiet, expat scene and investment potential — each scored out of 10 from BAANLYY's Phuket area dataset, then converted to a 100-point scale. It's a starting point for comparison, not investment advice.
Which Phuket area scores highest? On the current overall score, Bang Tao leads with a BAANLYY Area Score of 74, followed by Cherng Talay (71) and Nai Harn (71). Scores balance all eight factors — your personal best area depends on whether you weight beach and quiet or nightlife, value and the expat scene.
How should I use the score in Phuket?Use the overall score to shortlist, then dig into the factors that matter for your life on the island — a family weighs beach, quiet and family-friendliness, a nomad weighs dining, value and the expat scene, an investor weighs investment and rental demand. Open any area's full guide for pricing, beaches, schools, hospitals and lifestyle, then compare across the west coast, the south and the town.
Why do Patong and Bang Tao score so differently by factor?Phuket's areas serve very different lives. Patong maxes out nightlife and walkability but scores low on quiet and family life; Bang Tao and Cherng Talay lead for family, schools and premium investment; Rawai and Nai Harn win on value and the long-stay expat scene; Phuket Town trades beaches for real-city convenience and value. The factor columns exist precisely so you can see those trade-offs at a glance.
